Isotopes
Isotopes state that atomic numbers are the same but atomic mass is different.
Ex.- Carbon has the same atomic number but a different atomic mass.
Isotopes have the same chemical properties and different physical properties because these are atoms of the same element.
Isobars
Isobars state that the atomic mass is the same but the atomic numbers are different.
Ex.- The best example for isobars are Argon and Calcium, They both have the same mass number but different atomic mass.
Isobars have different chemical properties and different physical properties because these are the atoms of different elements.
Applications Of Isotopes
- An isotope of uranium is used as fuel in a nuclear reactor.
- An isotope of cobalt is used in the treatment of cancer.
